Natural Park Font Roja
FONT ROJA
Font Roja was declared as a Natural Park by the Generalitat Valenciana in 1987, thus becoming the first natural park in the Valencian Community.
The Natural Park has the greatest biodiversity in the entire community, with more than 2,400 cataloged species, and one of the best examples of a mixed Mediterranean forest, hosting deciduous species such as maples, ash trees and gall oaks (called Valencian oak). It is located between the towns of Alcoy and Ibi and is one of the best preserved natural area in the Valencian Community. Font Roja also presents a great diversity of environments of high ecological, landscape value and is a special bird protection zone (ZEPA) as well as a place of community interest (SCI).
